Description
Colloidal Silver is a solution of microscopic flakes of pure silver suspended in distilled water. Colloidal Silver is most commonly used topically to support skin health but it is also occasionally taken orally as an immune support supplement.
Care should be taken if using Colloidal Silver orally as there are significant side effects associated with chronic oral use. If using Colloidal Silver orally we strongly recommend not exceeding the recommended dosage and to take at least 1 week off for every 2 weeks of usage.
Recommended Dosage
If applying Colloidal Silver topically, for example to a wound, we recommend using 1-2 full droppers on the area it is being applied per day. (1-2 ml)
If taking Colloidal Silver orally, we recommend taking just 1 full dropper per day and not exceeding 2 full droppers per day. We strongly recommend not taking Colloidal Silver orally for more than 2 weeks without a 1 week break.
Side Effects
When used at recommended dosages, Colloidal Silver is unlikely to cause any side effects although nausea is sometimes reported. Side effects associated with Colloidal Silver are more likely after long periods of sustained daily usage.
One main side effect observed from long-term oral use of Colloidal Silver is the condition argyria, which is a discoloration of the skin to a more greyish appearance. While this is not dangerous by itself, skin discoloration is unlikely to be a welcome side effect. This can be avoided by not exceeding the recommended dosage and not using the product daily for more than 2 weeks without taking a break.
Colloidal silver also has been known to reduce the effectiveness of some prescription drugs such as antibiotics or thyroid medication when taken orally. We don’t recommend using Colloidal Silver orally if taking these or similar prescription medications.
The above side effects are most common when using Colloidal Silver orally for prolonged periods of time, and are not likely if using this product topically and the recommended dosages.
