Description

5-HTP is a compound which is a byproduct of the amino acid L-Tryptophan and is converted into serotonin in the brain. Serotonin is a neurotransmitter which is believed to play a key role in regulating mood and also helps to regulate sleep and appetite.

5-HTP is commonly used as a supplement for supporting healthy serotonin levels and to support sleep quality and a positive mood.

Recommended Dosage

For use as a supplement for mood or sleep support, we recommend taking one mL of the 5-HTP liquid for a total daily dosage of 50 mg. 5-HTP is best used about an hour before sleep, and can be taken on an empty stomach.

Side Effects

5-HTP is well tolerated and side effects are rare at normal dosages, but more likely at high doses. For this reason we don’t recommend exceeding 100 mg per day. (2 mLs)

Known side effects of 5-HTP include heartburn, GI discomfort, drowsiness, nausea, and GI discomfort.
