การเชื่อมต่อเครือข่ายแบบสายก็ยังมีความจำเป็นอยู่สำหรับการใช้งานกับบางอุปกรณ์ เช่น IP phones, IP cameras หรือ Access Points เป็นต้น ซึ่งอุปกรณ์เหล่านี้ก็ต้องการพลังงานในการทำงานแต่ครั้นที่จะเดินสายไฟและสาย LAN คู่กันไปก็จะทำให้สิ้นเปลืองงบประมาณและดูรก ซึ่งทางออกที่น่าสนใจคือ การเดินสาย LAN พร้อมกับมีกระแสไฟไปด้วยในตัว ซึ่งนั่นก็คือ เทคโนโลยีแบบ Power over Ethernet (PoE) ก็จะทำให้ผู้ใช้งานประหยัดสายลงไปได้ส่วนหนึ่ง



PoE12-HP เป็นพอร์ตการทำงานที่รองรับทั้งการส่งกระแสไฟและข้อมูลไปพร้อมกันเพื่อใช้งานร่วมกับอุปกรณ์ PoE อื่นๆ โดย PoE12-HP ให้ความเร็วในการส่งข้อมูลสูงถึง 1000 Mbps และให้กำลังไฟสูงถึง 30 วัตต์ ซึ่งก็ถือว่าเพียงพอต่อการใช้งานอย่าง MIMO access points หรือกล้องแบบ pan-tilt-zoom เป็นต้น
