It was not until he was forty that Brahms published a violin sonata. When Brahms was young, Schumann encouraged him to create Violin Sonatas and publish them, but he finally gave up because of the dissuasion of Liszt and others, and the score was finally lost. However, although the number of Three Violin Sonatas published after 1880 is small, they have become Brahmss masterpiece of chamber music and a classic in Violin Sonata.

The Violin Sonata No. 1 is elegant, and hides Dan sadness, just like its sub label "song of rain". Violin Sonata No. 2, completed in Switzerland in 1886, is more magnificent than the previous one.
