Description
Magnesium is an essential mineral, and is one of the most commonly found electrolytes in the body. While many foods are rich in Magnesium, deficiencies are very common in the western diet.
Magnesium Chloride is a naturally occurring compound which consists of two chloride ions and one magnesium ion. Among the many forms of magnesium supplements Magnesium Chloride has high average concentration of elemental magnesium and is 12% elemental magnesium by weight.
Recommended Dosage
We recommend taking a two-capsule dosage (1000 mg) of Magnesium Chloride per day. This dosage provides 120 mg of elemental magnesium, which is 29% of a male’s daily requirement and 39% of a female’s daily requirement.
Side Effects
Magnesium Chloride is well tolerated and side effects are rare, but adverse side effects including upset stomach, diarrhea, and drowsiness have been reported.
Due to its high concentration of elemental magnesium, Magnesium Chloride should be dosed conservatively so as not to get too much magnesium per day. Please consult your physician before taking Magnesium Chloride.
