Escape, perhaps the end of the old. Maybe its a new beginning.
Maybe its just some trivial moments, like relaxing footsteps on the way to the theatre, like a disappointed yearning by the window in the afternoon.

Summary

The incomparable Alice Munro’s bestselling and rapturously acclaimed Runaway is a book of extraordinary stories about love and its infinite betrayals and surprises, from the title story about a young womawho, though she thinks she wants to, is incapable of leaving her husband, to three stories about a womanamed Juliet and the emotions that complicate the luster of her intimate relationships. IMunro’s hands, the people she writes about–womeof all ages and circumstances, and their friends, lovers, parents, and children–become as vivid as our owneighbors. It is her miraculous gift to make these stories as real and unforgettable as our own.

Escape, perhaps the end of the old. Maybe its a new beginning. Maybe its just some trivial moments, like relaxing footsteps on the way to the theatre, like a disappointed yearning by the window in the afternoon.
Carla, who left her parents house at the age of 18, now plans to escape her husband and marriage; Juliet, giving up her academic career, resolutely went to the rural man she met on the train; Penelope, who lived with his mother since childhood, suddenly disappeared one day; Grace, already talking about marriage, ran away with her fiances brother all afternoon
The flash of escape again and again is so unpredictable and unable to parry. Maybe you have been quietly reversed by them, or you have forgotten them.
