Most of the original literature books are printed on recycled paper,Recycled paper is a kind of paper produced with waste paper as raw material through more than ten processes such as sorting, purification, beating and papermaking. About the author:

Marva Collins was born in Alabama in the 1930s. Her father is African American and her mother is American Indian. When she was born, the local racism was popular. Fortunately, Marvas father was very confident in her and said to her from an early age, "Marva, you will do something in your life. You can be a secretary." The reason why he said Secretary is that in view of ethnic background and gender reasons, she wants to be a secretary. There is not so much an invisible threshold as an obvious threshold.
"Its the name of an ordinary woman," she continued. "Marva did a good job as a secretary in the company at the beginning, but one day, she felt that the job was not suitable for her, and she found herself very enthusiastic about teaching. She wanted to be a teacher in the school, so she went to night school. A few years later, she got a teachers certificate."
"Marva went to a public school in Chicago. Juvenile delinquency in that city is very serious. Many teenagers take drugs and join street gangs. Students hate learning and school. How to make students stay in the classroom longer? Marva said after some thinking that things will change.
On the first day of class, she said to the students, "we should establish our faith." She took the trouble to convey this message. She insisted on saying to the students - I believe you, you can succeed, take your own responsibility, dont complain, its up to you to succeed or not. She took the trouble to convey these positive messages. At the same time, she looks forward to the students, focuses on their advantages and strengths, and cultivates them. So the miracle happened.
Marva teaches from grade one to grade four in school. Slowly, things have really changed as she said. Her students, those who think they "cant be taught", can read Emerson and Shakespeare in grade four, and 10-year-old students can do high school mathematics. "
"But someone was jealous and slandered her. Marva left the school and opened her own home school. She taught the students in her kitchen. At first, there were only four students, two of whom were her own children. Gradually, more and more students came to her home. Many of the students dropped out of public schools, and there were many street gangsters. There were more and more students. She rented a room as a classroom outside. It was cold in winter Its extremely cold and hot in summer, but the students have a high enthusiasm for learning. The miracle happened to Marvas students. All Marvas students graduated from primary school to high school. Then, all the students, notice, all the students went to college and graduated from college. Yes, those "non teachable" students. "
"Marva has lived in poverty for decades, but she tries to balance school expenses because many students cant afford tuition. These days have passed. In 1979, the situation changed overnight, CBS 60 minutes" After learning Marvas story, the producer of the program made a 15 minute program. She became famous overnight. In 1980, the newly elected President Reagan called Marva to ask her to be the Secretary of education, but Marva refused his invitation. She said, I like the profession of teacher too much. Eight years later, the newly elected President Bush called her again to ask her to be the Secretary of education, and she refused again. In 1995, a philanthropist donated tens of millions of dollars to Marva. Now there are Marva schools all over the country. Today, Marvas students include politicians, famous lawyers and doctors, but more are teachers.
What makes those street gangsters become useful talents in society? What makes miracles happen? Why did the two presidents of the United States choose Marva as secretary of education?

Marva said, "I think Im doing well. I think Im smart. Im special. Ill teach every child to think so.". From the first day of class, I will repeatedly say to the students: I believe you, you can do well, you are great, you can succeed, you can take the responsibility of life, stop complaining, stop complaining about society, stop complaining about teachers, stop complaining about parents, happiness and happiness are in you.
When my students dont behave, my punishment is that I ask them to write 100 reasons why they are great enough to do that, and to write in alphabetical order: Im cute, Im beautiful, Im brave.
I give them examples to understand that I am happy, I am very excited, I am great, I am great, I am an example, I am incomparable, I am very enthusiastic, I am very important, I am never naughty, and I write the last letter all the time. If anyone commits it again, it must use another synonym. They cant use the original word again. Now the children will say to the new students that we are tired of telling Marva how great I am.
This is Marvas success, this is Marvas students success. This is Marvas active learning method.
Marva Collins taught school for two years in Alabama, then moved to Chicago, where she taught in public schools for 14 years. Her experiences in that system, coupled with her dissatisfaction with the quality of education that her two youngest children were receiving in prestigious private schools, convinced her that children deserved better than what was passing for acceptable education. She took the $5,000 balance in her school pension fund and opened her own school on the second floor of her home.
The Westside Preparatory School was founded in 1975 in Garfield Park, a Chicago inner-city area. During the first year, Collins took in learning disabled, problem children and even one child who had been labeled by Chicago public school authorities as borderline retarded. At the end of the first year, every child scored at least five grades higher proving that the previous labels placed on these children were misguided. 60 Minutes, visited her school for the second time in 1996. That little girl who had been labeled as border line retarded, graduated from college Summa Cum Laude. Marvas graduates entered colleges and universities, such as Harvard, Yale, and Stanford. They became physicians, lawyers, engineers, and educators. In 1996 she began supervising three Chicago public schools that had been placed on probation.
In 1981, she received the Award for Greatest Public Service Benefiting the Disadvantaged, an award given out annually by the Jefferson Awards. In 2004 she received a National Humanities Medal for her teaching and efforts at school reform.
Marva Collins offers a beacon of hope in the midst of Americas educational crises. Collins recounts her successful teaching strategies and offers inspirational advice on how to motivate children to fulfill their potential. This updated edition contains a new epilogue for parents and teachers.
